# How to Stop iPhone Storage Warnings

The Storage Almost Full popup is annoying, but it is doing its job. Here is how to make it go away — for real, not just for an hour.

## The Direct Answer

iOS does **not** let you disable storage warnings. The only way to stop them is to free up at least **1-2 GB** of space — and ideally keep **5-10% of total storage free** long-term. The fastest way: clean photos and videos (the biggest space users), offload unused apps, and clear Messages attachments. Once free space crosses the threshold, the popup stops appearing.

## Why You Cannot Just Turn Them Off

Apple does not provide a setting to disable storage warnings because they protect you from real problems — failed iOS updates, photos that fail to save, apps that crash, and lost data. The warning will reappear as long as your device sits below the threshold.

## The Fast Cleanup Path

1. **Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage** and identify the biggest categories.

2. **Delete photos and videos** you do not need (the highest-impact step).

3. **Empty Recently Deleted** in the Photos app — deleted photos sit there for 30 days using space.

4. **Offload unused apps** — Settings > General > iPhone Storage > tap an app > Offload App.

5. **Clear Messages attachments** — Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Messages > Review Large Attachments.

6. **Clear Safari cache** — Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

## How Much Space to Free

Free up enough to give yourself **5-10% of total storage** as breathing room:

- **64 GB iPhone:** Aim for 4-6 GB free

- **128 GB iPhone:** Aim for 8-12 GB free

- **256 GB iPhone:** Aim for 15-25 GB free

- **512 GB+ iPhone:** Aim for 30+ GB free

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can I disable iPhone storage warnings?

No. There is no setting to disable them. The only fix is to actually free space — at least 1-2 GB.

### Why does iPhone keep showing storage warnings?

Free space stays under 1 GB. New photos, app updates, and caches keep refilling it. Free a real cushion, not just enough to dismiss the popup once.

### How much free space should I keep on my iPhone?

At least 5-10% of total storage free. About 6-12 GB on a 128 GB iPhone.
