# Can I Transfer iCloud Storage to Another Person?

Whether you want to give unused iCloud storage to a family member or gift storage to someone, here is what Apple allows and the best workaround.

## The Direct Answer

**No**, iCloud storage is tied to your Apple ID and cannot be transferred, gifted, or reassigned to another person. However, you can **share your iCloud+ storage with up to five family members** through Apple's Family Sharing feature. Each person keeps their data private while drawing from a shared storage pool. You need a 200 GB or larger plan to share.

## Why You Cannot Transfer iCloud Storage

iCloud storage plans are subscriptions attached to a specific Apple ID. Apple does not provide any mechanism to:

- Transfer unused storage to another Apple ID

- Gift a specific amount of storage to someone

- Merge storage from two Apple IDs

- Split a plan between accounts
