# How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone

Getting a new iPhone or need to move photos to another device? Five reliable methods from automatic to manual, depending on what you need.

## Quick Answer

For a **new iPhone setup**, use **Quick Start** — hold both phones together and follow prompts to transfer everything automatically. For **selective photo sharing**, use **AirDrop** — select photos, tap Share, choose AirDrop. For **ongoing sync**, enable **iCloud Photos** on both iPhones signed into the same Apple ID. All methods preserve full photo quality.

## Method 1: Quick Start (New iPhone Setup)

The easiest way to transfer everything — photos, apps, settings, messages — to a new iPhone.

### 1 Place Both iPhones Together

Turn on your new iPhone and place it next to your old iPhone. Your old iPhone shows a **Set Up New iPhone** prompt. Tap **Continue**.

### 2 Scan the Animation

Your new iPhone displays a swirling animation. Hold your old iPhone's camera over it to scan. Enter your old iPhone's passcode on the new device when prompted.

### 3 Choose Transfer Method

Select **Transfer from iPhone** for direct wireless transfer, or **Download from iCloud** if you prefer. Direct transfer is faster and does not require iCloud space. Keep both phones near each other until the transfer completes (30 min to 2 hours).

## Method 4: Shared Album

Create a shared album to give another person access to specific photos without transferring ownership.

- Photos > Albums > + > New Shared Album

- Name it and invite the other person by Apple ID
